The halving is one of the best-known events in the Bitcoin calendar. Here you learn what is behind it and what it does not mean. What is the halving? New Bitcoin are created through mining. Whoever finds a new block gets a fixed reward for it, the block subsidy. At the halving, this reward is cut in half. This happens automatically after every 210,000 blocks.
