Whoever finds a valid block may credit themselves a set amount of new Bitcoin, plus the fees of the transactions it contains. In 2009 it was 50 Bitcoin per block, and since the 2024 halving it is 3.125 Bitcoin. At the next halving the reward falls to 1.5625 Bitcoin.
