Crypto exchanges and brokers are the entry point for most people. Look for a licence in the EU (for example under MiCA) and for security features such as two-factor login. As long as your Bitcoin sit on the exchange, you only have a claim against the provider. That is why many then transfer their Bitcoin to their own wallet.
